Art Museum’s Refreshed South Asian Galleries Open to Public
Story, photos by Lou Perri The Philadelphia Museum of Art is reopening the South Asian galleries after a major two year renovation and reinstallation period of its masterpieces. The Temple Hall, the centerpiece of the collection, has been completely reinterpreted. Donated in 1919 by the family of Adeline Pepper Gibson of Philadelphia, the Temple Hall has been a puzzle to scholars until now. Curators have solved the mystery and will share the details with members of Gibson’s family present. Miss America 2017 Contestants Enjoy Lavish Buffet at Showboat Hotel
Photos, story by Lou Perri The 52 Miss America 2017 contestants walked the boards to get to Showboat Hotel and enjoy a buffet dinner created by Tim Kuhlman, general manager and an excellent chef. The 52 pageant contestants dined in style as servers sliced into Filet Mignon, pepper crusted Ahi Tuna, a spinach and strawberry salad, roasted fingerling potatoes, mixed vegetables and assorted pastries to end a wonderful meal. Kuhlman told Explore New Jersey he selected entrees from various Showboat menus and fit dietary selections for the young ladies.

The event on Friday evening featured Kathie Lee Gifford who boasted about her wine called GIFFT, in partner with a Monterey estate vineyards. The name stands for Gifford’s last name and inspired by her belief that love and friendship are gifts. Four wines that make up the GIFFT label were on display – rose, red blend, pinot grigio and chardonnay. Williams, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, and other friends and partners to a special unveiling of the transformed Ann Bartram Carr Garden on Thursday, July 14th.
