Story, photos by Jordan Price

Head out to Mount Airy’s Street Fare, an epic foodie festival taking over Germantown Avenue from 6:00-10:30 p.m. is a good way to kick off the beginning of the fall season this Thursday on Sept. 17th! Taking place between Sedgwick Street and Mt. Airy Avenue, this  annual event brings some of the city’s best gourmet food vendors onto the street, as well as Mt. Airy‘s own local restaurants offering their dishes in an open-air environment. You’ll be able to enjoy craft beer and cocktails as well as live music from Philly favorites Bethlehem & Sad Patrick, School of Rock, and Hennessey Bonfire. There’s also a Family Area so bring kids of all ages for custom temporary tattoos from Kadillac Tattoo, free-form and balloon art, and braids, faux hawks, and other hair styles from Culture Hair!

Explore Philly got a chance to taste some of the goodies being offered at this year’s event a week early during their media preview.

Lucky us!

Earth Bread + Brewery, as always, offered a killer lineup of beers for every discerning palate.

Hard to choose just one, better be safe and get a few.

We also were lucky enough to try some of Streetside BBQ‘s assorted meats and noshing on the brisket, pork, and chicken had us feeling like we were the top of the food chain!

We also checked out Mt. Airy Noodle House (MANH) and Bee Burger for some summer rolls and baby burgers!

Jyoti Indian Bistro promises to offer the “Soul Food of Punjab”. Trust us, you’re going to want to try a bite of everything they offer, so bring a friend!

One of the most exciting parts of this year’s Street Fare will be the official opening of Alma Mater, a restaurant and bar for the sports fan in everyone! They were the gracious hosts of the last stop on our tour, offering samples of their bruschetta and salmon salad.

They also offered craft beer to sip on while we enjoyed some of the offerings from just a few of the 50+ food trucks that’ll be rolling over to Mt. Airy this week!

Dump n’ Roll brought the heat with their chipotle bacon turkey burger dumplings, pairing perfectly with a hoppy IPA.

The bite-sized sandwiches from MATTs Gourmet Sliders blew our minds with so much flavor in such a small bite! Can’t miss.

With so much to enjoy, make a night and SIP, SAVOR, and STROLL your way through Mt. Airy on a perfect autumn evening with 50 food trucks and more, this Thursday, September 17th, from 6-10:30 p.m.!
