Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Flower Show Kicks off with Holland: Flowering the World
Photos, story by Tiffany Dubois For 2017 the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show will be featuring the land of tulips, “Holland: Flowering the World”, with a celebration of the beauty and ingenuity of Dutch culture, from the vivid and vibrant flower fields to innovative eco-design. Visitors will pass under a brick bridge inspired by the Amsterdam cityscape that will be decorated with Delft tile patterns, overflowing flower boxes and hanging baskets. Miss America 2017 Contestants Enjoy Lavish Buffet at Showboat Hotel
Photos, story by Lou Perri The 52 Miss America 2017 contestants walked the boards to get to Showboat Hotel and enjoy a buffet dinner created by Tim Kuhlman, general manager and an excellent chef. The 52 pageant contestants dined in style as servers sliced into Filet Mignon, pepper crusted Ahi Tuna, a spinach and strawberry salad, roasted fingerling potatoes, mixed vegetables and assorted pastries to end a wonderful meal. Kuhlman told Explore New Jersey he selected entrees from various Showboat menus and fit dietary selections for the young ladies.

Mural Arts tours are perfect for year-round social gatherings, business outings or fundraising events. We took a walking tour, but there are train and trolley tours offered as well. Our lovely tour guide of the day, Elise, gave us some background about the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. It began in 1984 when the mayor of Philadelphia opened an anti-graffiti network for kids and young adults.
