The Vintner’s Table is an intimate, five-course pairing dinner that makes drinking wine accessible, familiar, and fun throughout the changing seasons of the year at Chaddsford Winery in Chaddsford, Pa. Whether you’re a wine rookie or veteran connoisseur, take a seat at the table to explore seasonal wine-and-food pairings, experience a range of wine styles, and enjoy an educational and exceptional, five-course tasting menu.
Our dinner started at 6 p.m. and with the falling back time change, we arrived early to capture that beautiful sunset and twilight hour which we highly recommend to get in the country groove. The winery also requests that you arrive on time to not hold up the dinner for others and bribe guests with social wine time and delicious appetizers.
There are no assigned seats, it is first come and first served which we liked as we are always early. They may suggest, depending on party size, where to sit so everyone can sit together but other than that it’s free reign. We recommend not sitting on the end is possible as your chair will be perpetually in the way of others. Regardless, by then end of the night, we certainly were one big, boisterous belly-filled group as they hoped!
An extra bonus is all wine purchases made after (or during dinner) will be 20 percent off, and includes all wines featured on the menu, plus anything on the shelves. The night we were there, guests also had the rare opportunity to take home a special “Library Selection” 2007 Rubino (ruby) as featured in the second course.
John Serock Catering of West Chester caters from brides to meeting planners throughout the Philadelphia area. They are listed as a preferred caterer at a variety of unique locations throughout the Delaware Valley, which include historical mansions and farms in Delaware, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks Counties.
Stuffed portabella with Italian sausage, provolone and spinach paired with 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon with an essence of black cherry, cassis, cedar and tobacco.
Pappardelle, Tuscan ragu with Ricotta paired with Library Selection 2007 Rubino with a character of spice, chocolate and an earthiness of strawberry.
This one is known as the Swiss Army wine to stock in case of emergency!
Roast Turkey with Sage Jus Lie, cornbread and chorizo stuffing and cranberry apple and walnut stuffing paired with the New Release 2015 Proprietors Reserve Red. It is a soft, smoky, easy-to-drink red with hints of cherry. Roasted Root Vegetables paired with Artisan Series 2013 ‘Sur Lie’ Chardonnay that has a mouth-coating creaminess and complexity. The caramel acidity of the chardonnay cuts right through the gravy.
Bourbon-Pecan Pie with Vanilla Whipped Cream paired with the warm, mulled spiced apple which is tart and sweet with hints of spice. It’s apple pie in a glass and was addicting! We look forward to seeing the next menu and chef/wine pairing. We enjoyed going backwards in wine from red to white and wonder what this winery will come up with next. The winery plans to announce in January the schedule for 2017 beginning in April on Thursday and Fridays.
