Enjoy Epic Arizona Sunsets at Orange Sky at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale

Story, photos by Cassie Hepler

Did you know the Arizona state flag was made to look like a sunset? I was this old when I discovered that during a late night social media scrolling session. And now it all makes sense why this fine dining restaurant is named Orange Sky, located inside the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. Located on the 15th floor of the casino, it is the signature space for those sunset hues and an award-winning wine list.

Talking Stick Resort is located on the grounds of Salt River, owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. (Other area attractions include: The Pavilions at Talking Stick, Talking Stick Golf Club, The Wildhorse Grille, Topgolf, OdySea Aquarium, Butterfly Wonderland, iFly Indoor Skydiving, and the newly opened Medieval Times and soon to be opened Great Wolf Lodge).

Arrive in style and valet park (it’s included), enter the resort and find your nearest elevator. Get off at the 15th floor and you will already see amazing views, friendly hospitality and sometimes a piano player in the lounge. The lounge is for cocktails and small plates but if you’re ready to indulge in a real meal, make sure you have reservations arranged for dinner plans. Our group was part of a Visit Phoenix press trip, so we made our way to a large, long table fit for a huge family. This media visit was part of the Salt River Fields Spring Training home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. We hear this is the place to book for Spring season and we saw two very handsome, muscular gentlemen dining al fresco… just sayin’!

Trying to capture a table shot before we all took our seats at Orange Sky inside Talking Stick Resort.
A sampling of some of the white wines to pair with seafood for dinner that night by the glass. I opted to taste an outstanding Arizona wine instead and ended up back at the Page Springs Cellars Vino del Barrio Blanca, from Cochise County, AZ… another place to visit on the ol’ bucket list!
We started out with a charcuterie board to whet our appetites at Orange Sky in Talking Stick Resort.
And of course you have to try all the fresh, local Arizona cheese at Orange Sky in Talking Stick Resort.
MoVernie and I were so excited to try these outstanding oysters and we encouraged our videographer friend Adrian Verdult who never had them to try them as well at Orange Sky in Talking Stick Resort. He was not a fan, but he tried at least!
Creeping on MoVernie’s steak, we had to get a bite and a shot at Orange Sky and it was cooked to perfection, just a bit bloody on the inside.
Another neighbor went for the flaky, light salmon is always a healthy option after a week of so much delicious gluttony at Orange Sky.
This was a lobster stacked with more lobster meat masterpiece at Orange Sky and I was so glad I chose it… I could eat three of these melted butter beauties.
A little pot full of mushrooms is heavenly to me and very flavorful at Orange Sky. It’s a perfect side stew.
Beets are always great to switch up a traditional salad at Orange Sky and keep it somewhat healthy.
Desert is served and we devoured this whole plate including fresh berries, a tart and Twix-like chocolate cake with a nice crunch to it at Orange Sky.
This is why people come to experience and unfortunately our group missed this view so make sure you get there in time for the epic sunset at Orange Sky. Tom Lennon Photography
