Explore Revisits EGO Lounge at Trump Taj Mahal
Story, photos by Lou Perri
Explore recently received an invite to Atlantic City’s Trump Taj Mahal and its EGO Lounge where some of the hottest Latin Ballroom Dance couples heat up the dance floor.
Kathy Krauthause, the marketing and public relations expert at the casino/hotel, also invited this photo/journalist to taste some of the fine appetizers at the hotel’s Il Mulino Trattoria. Eric Velasquez, a young chef who learned his expertise from the Il Mulino’s New York executive chef, Michele Mazza, learned his craft well.
A table in the bar section was filled with classic Italian dishes including special meatballs, ricotta rice balls, and tender rings of calamari lightly coated in a bread crumb and deep fried. The table also included a tray of chilled oysters that happens to be a favorite here. Huge shrimp, and trattoria’s pizzas like Sopressata, an Italian sausage, also were on the table.
Our bartender, Alexandra Sirghe, seemed to be serving a never-ending gin and tonic water. Our hostess chose a white wine.
But the reason for all this wine and circumstance was a visit to the EGO Lounge , a short distance from Il Mulino Trattora where The Red Hotts, a dance troupe consisting of ten lovely ladies and two sets of Latin Ballroom dancers got into their groove thing, entertaining guests and inviting them to the dance floor to join in the moves.
The creator of this exciting dance troupe is Hossana Da Costa, owner and president of Confetti Entertainment Inc., a company that provides self-contained production shows, costumes, choreography, dancers and live music for casino showrooms, theaters, conventions and corporate parties. Her expertise in providing the coordination and professional presence necessary to make each event and run a success is a result of her extensive theatrical and entertainment experience.
A native of Brazil, Ms. Da Costa graduated from The University of the Arts of Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Associate Degree in Theater Dance. She toured the world as a professional dancer in revue shows at famous casinos, extravagant resorts and aboard luxury cruise liners. In the mid 1980s in addition to performing, she began to produce and choreograph.
Her shows have delighted audiences throughout the United States, China, Japan, South America, and the Caribbean. Hossana is the owner and creative designer of a vast number of lavish and elaborate costumes which she uses in the acts.
Latin Ballroom dancers are Teresa Garcia from Peru, her partner Charlie Garcia, a native New Yorker, Karla Choko from Mexico and her partner, Skizzo Arnedillo, who hails from Spain. These couples really excited guests with flourish and sensual movement. For show information, visit http://www.trumptaj.com/
