It’s A Hard Knock Life Interviewing Miss America Mid-Atlantic Contestants

On a mild night recently, Explore NJ moseyed on over to the Golden Nugget where the 52 Miss America contestants dined at the swimming pool deck overlooking Atlantic City. While Explore NJ enjoyed seeing the most beautiful women in the United States, the purpose was to photograph and interview the four ladies from the Mid-Atlantic states, Miss New Jersey, Miss Pennsylvania, Miss Delaware and Miss New York. Here are summaries of those young women.

Miss Delaware
Miss Delaware

Miss Delaware, Brooke Mitchell, of Selbyville, Delaware, is a nineteen-year-old student at Delaware Technical and Community College, hoping for a Master’s Degree in Education, and wants to be an elementary school teacher. Her platform is Volunteerism: Turn Your Passion into Action. For her talent, the Delaware native will do a tap and twirl routine.

Twenty-one-year-old Lindsey Giannini, of Hammonton, New Jersey, attends Rowan University with hope of obtaining a degree in broadcast journalism on the road to a job in broadcast journalism. The Hammonton native’s platform is Dangers in Distracted Driving For her talent, she will offer a Latin Rhythm Jazz Dance. Scholastic honors include Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Scholarship Award; Rowan’s Trustee Scholarship;President’s Education Award for Academic Excellence; Dean’s List. On her way to the Miss New Jersey title, Lindsey won the Miss Central Coast crown.

Jamie Lynn Macchia, who resides on Staten Island, New York, is Miss New York. The 23-year-old who graduated Magna Cum Laude; Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society; Alpha Mu Theta Honor Society She hopes to further her education in event planning and utilize a degree in Development for a non-profit organization. For her platform, Jamie Lynn chose Inspiring Action Against Pediatric Cancer

Twenty-four year old Ashley Schmider, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is Miss Pennsylvania. At Duquesne University, she graduated Summa cum Laude and hopes to obtain a Masters in Business from the University of Pennsylvania. Other scholastic achievements include High School Valedictorian; Dean’s List; Beta Gamma Sigma and Lambda Sigma Honors Fraternity; Rachel Carson Award for Achievement in Math/Science; NHS V. Platform for Ashley: Strong Women, Strong Girls Mentoring Organization: Impacting Our Communities Girl at a Time For her talent, she will tap dance.
