Don’t phuck with Philly soccer phans.
Sons of Ben: The Movie premiere, held at The Trocadero Theatre, depicts the journey of Philadelphia’s most righteous soccer fans, the Sons of Ben, who stopped at nothing in their goal to help bring a Major League Soccer franchise to the City of Philadelphia area in Chester, Pa.
This is the true story of an American dream… if you built it, they will come. And they did. The place was hopping, the energy was jolly and these SOBs were a vivacious vocal bunch. With some serious and poignant points interwoven with hilarious, Catch-22 moments (which had the crowd rolling), it’s a delicious documentary of community triumph.
Rothbury Road Productions, in association with the Philadelphia Union and the Sons of Ben, packed the house at the Philadelphia red carpet premiere in June 2015.
Director/Producer Jeff Bell along with Philly famous stars of the film and Sons of Ben founders Bryan James, Corey Furlan, and Brad Youtz should be proud to have touched the life of so many people – and not just soccer fans.
The official stadium is located in Chester, Pa. where the community has received so much welcoming feedback as Chester was always considered the wasteland of Philadelphia, thrown away and filled with trash. Bringing new life back to a once thriving city is yet another tasty slice of the American pie.
When can you get a taste? According to Twitter, “Thanks for the inquiries about when #SonsofBenMovie will be available to buy/stream. We should have details for you in a month.” And that was June 12 so keep on social media stalking!
