Photos, story by Dana Prophet Gaining popularity in the 17th century and still going strong today, gin lovers can tell you they appreciate the herbal flavors derived from juniper berries and citrus that make a wonderful array of cocktails. In the past, gin was once used for medicinal reasons. As you devour a cocktail, tell yourself that you are indeed “drinking to your health”. Now you no longer need to rely on imported gin, we can covet our own hometown made, award-winning Bluecoat® American Dry Gin. Correspondents currently include Pastry Chef Dana Prophet, Jill Beckel, Whitney Ullman and Elspeth Misiaszek – and more in the making. The IT brains behind the operation is fellow Penn State alum Eric Smith, who also has a background in journalism. The team welcomed invited guests to the Stratus Rooftop…

By Dana J. Prophet Once a year there is a time where cake artists create wedding cake-themed masterpieces – all for a good cause. Let Them Eat Cake is not only a phrase that the doomed Marie Antoinette may or may not have uttered, but it is actually the biggest event where ticket holders can eat delicious cake from area bakeries, restaurants, caterers and culinary students (and why other people don’t write about this amazing event is beyond us). Held in the Crystal Tea Room in The Wanamaker Building, City of Hope, an organization that leads in the research and treatment for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, sponsors this…
