The Trestle Inn Gets Clean with Philadelphia Pet Hotel, PAWS at the Dog Wash

by Jean Donohue

Beer, music, a 60s style go-go dancer, and… dogs?

The Philadelphia Pet Hotel partnered with The Trestle Inn for an event that featured all of the above and more. Inspired by the 1970s blockbuster hit “Car Wash,” the partnership delivered a sidewalk party that was perfect for dog lovers.

The event was a benefit for PAWS, Philadelphia’s largest no-kill animal shelter. For dog owners, $35 was worth a dog wash, a donation to PAWS, and two pints of Neshaminy Creek Croydon Cream Ale. For those without a dog in tow, a $20 donation to PAWS came with two pints of beer. Extras included a full bar inside The Trestle Inn and fare from food trucks, The Grill Cheese and Phoebe’s BBQ. For four legged friends, extra services included nail trims for $10 and blowouts for $5 (yes, dogs can get blowouts too).

Amidst the festivities were dogs from PAWS donning orange “Adopt Me” vests. (The dogs awaiting adoption were so cute it was hard to resist taking them all home. Information on dog adoption can be found at phillypaws.org.)

The benefit’s goal was to raise $3,000 and to use the leverage that comes with success to orchestrate an even bigger party for next year that would span the entire block outside of The Trestle Inn. The second annual “At the Dog Wash” event in the hip purlieu of The Trestle Inn was a treat for yet another hot, dog day of summer in Philly.
