The Turtle Always Wins the Race at Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille

Photos / Story by Jill Beckel

Explore Philly recently got a chance to check out the brand new Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in North Wales and we had a blast! From tasty appetizers and filling entrees to fancy happy hour drinks, the Greene Turtle has something for everyone. Whether you want to stop in for Happy Hour with some coworkers, have a nice family dinner, or catch the game, the Greene Turtle is the perfect spot. The atmosphere is welcoming, fun and relaxing.

“The Greene Turtle is more than a sports bar and grille. We believe in being a community hangout for all ages, that serves great food and drinks in a fun, casual atmosphere built on the excitement and unity of sports. The Greene Turtle has been a local hangout since 1976 when we opened our first location in Ocean City, Maryland. We’ve come a long way since then, spreading our love for food, sports and community across Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, and now Pennsylvania with plans to continue our growth throughout the mid-Atlantic region.”

Summer is the perfect time for a refreshing cocktail and with plenty of weekday drink specials, The Greene Turtle sure knows how to make them. Check out their awesome happy hour on Monday through Thursdays from 3 pm – 6 pm. A full list of all of their cocktails can also be found here. On our visit, I got to try the Pinnacle Whipped Creamsicle cocktail and it did not disappoint! We also sampled the HUGE Hell in the Shell drink! Served in a massive turtle shell bowl, we got to choose from five different cocktails and went with the Hurricane (a mix of Bacardi, Southern Comfort, orange juice, pineapple juice, sour mix and grenadine). This bowl comes with four straws, but could easily be shared with more!

While our thirsts were thoroughly quenched, we did not go hungry either. The Greene Turtle is known for their fresh, never frozen certified Angus beef burgers and traditional Maryland crab cakes. We loved their appetizer spread of sweet potato fries (the dipping sauce was AMAZING!), fall-off-the-bone Hog Hammers ribs with sweet BBQ sauce, buffalo chicken nachos, blackened chicken quesadillas, crab dip served with warm pretzel sticks, onion ring tower and hand breaded chicken tenders. Explore the full Greene Turtle menu here and your mouth will be watering. And don’t forget about their catering which is great for any occasion including birthday parties, graduation parties, business lunches, bridal showers, baby showers, and more!

We were sent home with an adorable Greene Turtle gift bag filled with their signature root beer, a glass, bottle opener and coupons. In our opinion, the turtle always wins the race and we can’t wait for our next visit back!

My Happy Hour drink of choice was the Pinnacle Whipped Creamsicle.
Hell in the Shell drink! A massive turtle shell bowl held your choice of 5 drinks. We went with the Hurricane. This bowl comes with 4 straws but could easily be shared with more!
