Triple-Threat Siblings Julianne and Derek Hough Wowed the Crowd at the Move Live on Tour Show

By Jill Beckel

The Move Live on Tour show featuring professional dancers (and siblings) Julianne and Derek Hough made its way to Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ on July 11th. The audience was filled with people from all walks of life from young kids to seniors. Julianne and Derek are known for their dancing, choreographing and judging on Dancing with the Stars, roles in movies and this past year Derek was the star of the Radio City Rockette Spring Spectacular.

Julianne and Derek have been dancing for almost as long as they could walk and trained for years. All throughout Move Live on Tour,  you could see their passion for dance. They truly represented every style of dance from ballroom and hip hop to jazz and tap. Derek and the male dancers broke it down in “Uptown Funk” and Julianne and the female dancers kept it sexy and sassy in “Burnin’ Up.” One number combined a mix of ballroom and hip hop with cool drum beats. In another, Derek played a guitar solo that lead into a sultry tango dance.

Derek and Julianne also showcased their amazing singing voices for several numbers as well.  Julianne wowed the crowd with her American-themed “Candyman” rendition which featured her and two back-up dancers. Derek sang and rocked out to Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.” Then they faced off in a boys vs. girls theme in “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better,” which proved that both of them are amazing singers and dancers.

Julianne talked about her judging experience on Dancing with the Stars and how she looks for rhythm and connection and passion between the contestants. In the middle of the show, Derek and Julianne asked for three male volunteers to come onstage for a dance-off and the winner was chosen by the audience applause.

I thought the show was the perfect mix of Derek and Julianne dancing together, solo and with the other dancers. One of my favorites was a dance with umbrellas to the classic “Singin’ in the Rain.” Derek and Julianne also performed an amazing, emotional contemporary duet to Sia’s “Elastic Heart” that they also performed on Dancing with the Stars. Derek and Julianne truly are triple-threat powerhouses who can sing, dance and act. Be sure to check them out next time they are in town!
