Las Posadas of Sedona, Arizona is a Hidden Gem Boutique Hotel with Homemade Breakfast

Story, photos and video by Cassie Hepler

Even though Sedona, Arizona is a magical small town, there are different sections to it like anywhere else in the USA. The place that needs no advertising because it is so mystical that mere photos, videos and vibes draw millions across the world each year… and there are limited yet immaculate roads because of its small stature and also rules set in place to allow no more building (i.e. ruining the beauty of the Red Rocks) in the area.

Nestled in the Village of Oak Creek, Las Posadas of Sedona is located where you are driving in from Phoenix, Arizona – a good hour and a half on a low traffic day. If you blink, you can miss the exit as its on one of the first of many roundabouts to the right heading towards the infamous energy vortex of nearby Bell Rock. Avoid the weekends at all costs if you are looking for the most chill, zen experience. When I drove in on a Monday morning, it was a pretty easy drive totaling 1 hour and 22 minutes minus the construction they are doing to expand the roads up North. I purposely moved to a house in North Phoenix so I could be closer to Sedona – and all my other favorite wooded Northern Arizona towns. You can take a gal out of the country but can’t take the country out of the gal!

The sky was covered in clouds and the weather drop – almost 50 degrees from the never-ending summer of 2024 in the valley was palpable. As always, when I arrive in Sedona my soul wants a nap. Some mentioned the energy is heavy in Sedona but for me, I think it’s just my soul needing rest and a reset in one of my favorite places in the world. It’s wild to me that just this short drive delivers you to such a majestic space full of jaw-dropping beauty and wonder. Mark my word, someday I will live there when I’m an old witch writing crazy books in the mountains. But at this time, I was just happy to be cold for once! I checked in early, got settled in and delved into my emails fighting an energetic nap with some tea and snacks from the friendly folks in the cantina. That’s the thing about having a lifestyle and travel blog, you don’t get to just stop everything where you’re at as more planning and work needs to be done for the next adventure. Rinse and repeat! So I decided to just “be” after work… like the Italians say “il dolce far niente” the sweetness of doing nothing. And the storm brewing made for a perfect night of restful reflection… and Halloween horror movies that had a marathon on AMC. Let’s get into it!

The first amazing photo I saw in the lobby bathroom of all places at Las Posadas of Sedona. I am now obsessed with Todd Frame‘s work that is sprinkled all across the hotel! I just noticed the bathroom symbol reflection on the Red Rocks, hilarious!
Star gazing is easy in a dark sky area such as Sedona in the lobby at Las Posadas of Sedona.
The welcoming lobby at Las Posadas of Sedona.
Local merch available for sale at Las Posadas of Sedona and coffee available anytime.
Sedona Soap Box is the kind of natural soap we should all be using at Las Posadas of Sedona! I was obsessed with the I love Sedona.
A better view of Todd Frame’s artwork at Las Posadas of Sedona giving storm vibes.
Local wine is available for purchase at Las Posadas of Sedona… some of the best in Arizona right here!
The outside lounge space with grumbling clouds above at Las Posadas of Sedona.

I had plans for this hot tub the whole time at Las Posadas of Sedona.
If you want to get your sauna on with cold plunge at Las Posadas of Sedona! Great for after crazy hard hiking.
Back toward the lobby we went at Las Posadas of Sedona. There is also a ping pong table tucked in there as well as an ice and refillable water station inside a door next to the lobby.
I spied a hammock at Las Posadas of Sedona next to a fire pit lounge area.
Soon we were walking toward the cantina and my room at Las Posadas of Sedona. The sky was putting on quite a show for us!
Make sure to get a photo opp in the oversized chair either yourself or your pets at Las Posadas of Sedona. It is a pet friendly property but no, you can’t leave Fido in the room while you play and there is a fee.
Inside the cantina at Las Posadas of Sedona to the left when you walk in. Fresh made breakfast and snacks are available throughout the day.
Loving the curves in the kitchen area of the cantina at Las Posadas of Sedona. On the buffet was an amazing carrot cake and I don’t even like it normally!
There is also a lounge area next to the fireplace in the cantina at Las Posadas of Sedona. Yoga mats are tucked into a bin by the door.
Out on the adjacent patio, a hanging basket nook a good place to curl up and read a book at Las Posadas of Sedona.
For my yogis, a nice meditative space to stretch out in the morning at Las Posadas of Sedona. Hummingbirds love the sugar feeders!
The yoga space available for all to enjoy at Las Posadas of Sedona.
Back inside the cantina, the beverage area with the best coffee at Las Posadas of Sedona and more amazing art.
The chefs offered me fresh baked cookies which I can’t resist and I have dubbed these crack cookies as I couldn’t stop eating them at Las Posadas of Sedona. No preservatives, macadamia nuts, chocolate chips, oatmeal and coconut in there too!
Time to explore my room at Las Posadas of Sedona located on the second floor. There are no elevators here but plenty of first floor rooms available as well… you just won’t get the epic views. Gotta physically work for it!

Las Posadas of Sedona recently underwent a $1 million renovation, which includes the renovation of all 23 oversized, spacious guest room suites and villas ranging from 650-square-feet to 1,650-square-feet, each featuring double-sided fireplaces and private patios. Maybe it’s because I’m getting longer in the tooth as they say, but I enjoy a good suite over a cramped tiny room any day and also like to enjoy where I’m staying as well. Am I finally slowing down?!?!? It used to be whatever, we won’t really be in the room anyway but nowadays I want to be able to stare off into space in a comfortable place.

The first thing I was drawn to was the patio in my room at Las Posadas of Sedona. A couple of yellow leaves hint at fall happening!
It is these tiny touches that mean so much to travelers at Las Posadas of Sedona. This is the perfect setup for me, a nerdy word book, pecans and my favorite Arizona wine, Page Springs Cellars! Hopefully I will be working with them soon to show you why and how they are so outstanding.
My favorite place right here at Las Posadas of Sedona with the patio door open and breeze blowing while the fireplace flickers heat nearby. The bed was dreamy and linens luxurious, the perfect nest on a rainy day!
On the opposite side, the fireplace gets another use as the living room focal point at Las Posadas of Sedona. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how to turn the fan off so on it stayed.
The kitchen is right off the entrance to the Montana Room number 45 at Las Posadas of Sedona. A key fob for each door makes for easy entrance.
All rooms should have something like this at Las Posadas of Sedona. It’s like a tiny house kitchen with all you may need including coffee and tea, utensils, dishes, plates and more.

It was nice to see some Nespresso and Tazo tea options at Las Posadas of Sedona.
The fireplace looking in toward the bedroom and bath at Las Posadas of Sedona.
Somebody did their research on me at Las Posadas of Sedona! A bath salt from the hotel with the Sedona Soap Box champagne scent with the Best Hikes Sedona book… how did they know my plans?
The full bathroom from the doorway at Las Posadas of Sedona with two sinks, shower, eco-friendly dispensers of luxury products. I like my water temperature scalding but that did not exist here which is probably better for my skin anyway.
And here I was later that night after working from hotel, soaking up the bath salts at Las Posadas of Sedona and planning my next day’s hike.
My newest homies, Chefs Kristen and KG Deem are a husband and wife team who have been together for over 10 years hard at work in the cantina the next morning. Breakfast is organic and hand made each morning from 7 to 9: 30 a.m. which I wish lasted longer for those precious sleep in days.
I had the first day in a new place rough sleep so not even sure what I ordered except yummy breakfast quesadillas at Las Posadas of Sedona. There was so much food that I took the rest of these cheesy guys along for my hike! In the background is rice, pickled onions, cantaloupe and yogurt with a pile of berries on top.
And a pile of eggs for protein to get me through the hike at Las Posadas of Sedona. No extra flavors needed, everything was spot on.
Another amazing piece of art by Todd Frame in the breakfast nook at Las Posadas of Sedona.
That morning was a completely different sky and vibe from the day before at Las Posadas of Sedona. Blue skies and puddles!
Perhaps one of the easiest (in hindsight) trails I’ve taken in Arizona is the Long Canyon Trail in Sedona.
I made a new snake friend on the Long Canyon Trail in Sedona. According to the Arizona Snake Guru, this is a non-venomous Sonoran Gophersnake. The spiritual meaning of a snake means ancient wisdom and creative power. The snake symbolizes death and rebirth, going beyond boundaries and limitations. And that is exactly what happened next!
I kept running into people getting lost looking for the Birthing Cave like myself in Sedona. I saw a narrow path leading up towards the red rocks and began climbing, being pulled to the left.
The views were amazing and rewarding so I kept hiking in Sedona.
I soon made two new California friends who were following me and trusting in my intuition in Sedona. Do NOT do this hike if you are new or have a fear of heights. I have none to most things so was zipping around on the rocks, with proper hiking shoes with grips too.
Finally we ended at this cave which we thought may be the Birthing Cave. My spidey sense said it was not as we were the only ones there. But we were able to linger and take some rad pics!
I would say this is better than the Birthing Cave and right next door in Sedona.
I noticed a much, much easier way down and path so started heading that way only to end up at the Birthing Cave in Sedona. There were people galore, in and out and hard to grab a good picture without a random human in it.
Trading off pics with hiker Emily from Seattle, this photo happened at the Birthing Cave Sedona with me basking in the sunlight.
The best advice I can give you is to take a left at the second sign that says trail and looks like red rock wash in Sedona. Look for these butt rocks!
I then went poking around Oak Canyon for that fall foliage in Sedona and found this little guy hiding in the ivy.
Leaves were changing and seasons finally turning in Sedona, Arizona.
Back to Las Posadas of Sedona with Pearl, my trusty Honda Civic for the past 6 years at Las Posadas of Sedona. It’s a great car!
A whole different sky at the pool that day at Las Posadas of Sedona.
Because of the temperature difference, I didn’t even need the cold plunge option just the swimming pool at Las Posadas of Sedona.
I climbed into this salt water hot tub and stayed for hours at Las Posadas of Sedona. I even had the whole place to myself with tree shade for my pale skin!
Back to the room I went and enjoyed sunset on my patio as the colors changed on the red rocks at Las Posadas of Sedona.
That morning was the tastiest chicken breakfast tacos that needed no salsa at Las Posadas of Sedona.
With a side of the fluffiest pancakes with a hint of fall inside at Las Posadas of Sedona.
And a Southwestern hollandaise egg style at Las Posadas of Sedona. The chefs packed me up some road tacos and more crack cookies!
The chefs pose for a final photo before I left at Las Posadas of Sedona. They said they wanted it to feel like you’re at home each morning and that it does, bravo to Las Posadas of Sedona for bringing all this love to the table each morning. Until next time amigos!
