Philadelphia International Airport Lands American Express’s Prestigious Centurion Lounge
Story, photos by Sharon Kozden “To the great city of Philadelphia, I am so grateful to bring this back home to you.” – Chef Michael Solomonov, on being named best chef in the country at the James Beard Foundation Awards in Chicago, 2017. AMEX’s Centurion Lounge tapped Mike as its menu man. The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection was recently honored in becoming one of only nine airports in the world to offer travelers a uniquely unique and unforgettable way to hang before, between or after flights. Eighth Annual Audi Feastival Celebrates FringeArts 21st Birthday
Story, photos by Sharon Kozden “I think eating is one of the most delectable experiences of radiant, sweet, sour, hot splashes biting at your taste buds that you could ever have. Now imagine knowing how to maneuver and manage these flavors from a cook’s perspective. Pure power.” – Christopher Staab I’m remembering with gastronomic bliss the evening of September 28th, when Audi FEASTIVAL joined FringeArts for what arguably deserves its reputation as Philadelphia’s “Party of the Year.” For eight years running, an assembly of over 75 of Philadelphia’s renowned restaurants and bars has combined their award-winning fare samplings with FringeArts raise-the-bar, always innovative entertainment, artistic and cultural wonderment. FEASTIVAL first came to light, life and belly (in…

Haven’t Eaten at Abe Fisher Yet? You’re Missing Egg Cream with Bacon!
Photos, story by Cassie Hepler We went in expecting a Jewish restaurant. Boy, were we wrong. But we didn’t know for sure until the double sacrilicious chocolate bacon egg cream dessert arrived! (Because there’s bacon, cream and egg drizzled with honey in one deliciously tall jar equals a double no-no: no bacon, period, and no mixing dairy with meat!) Michael Solomonov’s (of Zahav, a modern Israeli restaurant) Abe Fisher opened in September 2014 and has been making tastebuds drool since then. Co-owner Steven Cook claims everything is fair game, not just Jewish Diaspora from around the world. Located across the street from the addicting FedNuts (Federal Donuts) on Sansom Street, it is a smaller space in an upscale diner setting.…

2015 Audi FEASTIVAL Celebrates Fine Cuisine, Fantasy and Craft Cocktails for FringeArts
Story, photos by Dana J. Prophet Once a year over 70 of the finest area restaurants, bars and eateries come together to donate their time, talent and cuisine for the Audi FESTIVAL. Philly food moguls Stephen Starr, Michael Solomonov, and Audrey Claire Taichman sponsored and supported Audi FEASTIVAL to benefit FringeArts and the local Philadelphia art community. What makes this celebration different from the previous years is that it was held at the FringeArts headquarters. From the moment guests checked in, they were greeted with a visually spectacular movements from dancers, acrobats and performance artists. All of your senses were tantalized. After taking a break indulging in the many small bites and speciality cocktails,…

Great Chefs raised over $800K for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and Vetri Foundation for Children
by Cassie Hepler, photos by Lou Perri Every year, my stomach and I look forward to the Great Chefs Event. It’s literally a sort of fasting before the feast and makes competitive eating seem like a real sport somehow. The key (to me at least) is to try at least one bite of everything. This year, I was unable to make it (only I could mess up my neck and back before Dana Hot Yoga class even begins!) but here are the highlights and photo story below. One of my favorites told me the dish to die for was definitely Michael Solomonov’s sweetbread schnitzel, and she’s always a fan of Big Gay…
