Enjoy a Girls Getaway to The Cassara Carlsbad in San Diego, California

There’s some sort of siren song that keeps lulling me back to San Diego, California. Over 13 years ago, I came to visit the Los Angeles area determined I was going to move there from Philadelphia. I stayed for a month at over three different friend’s locations but the plastic thirstiness and fakeness of Hollywood was not my vibe. I’m way too straight forward and honest for that shit. Also, people thought I was very angry because I swore so much but that’s just how it is in Philly! It’s just adjectives such as very cool is fucking cool… and so on. Anyway, fast forward to me falling in love with San Diego a few years later and it’s still a very strong love affair. I find myself relaxed, my hair full of sea salt curls and my skin so supple and moisturized from that fresh ocean air. So when Spring finally sprung again, it was reunion time!
My best friend since college at Penn State University, who is also a writer and author, was able to join me for a chill Sunday fun day and overnight which made it even more special – just the two of us able to spend some quality time together which hasn’t happened in forever! I arrived on a Saturday early evening with my shoulders mad at me for the drive from North Phoenix. I made great time, only 5 and a half hours but my body was not enjoying the ride. So as soon as I checked in at The Cassara Carlbad, I did what I call a “lie down” where I relax my back so it doesn’t get worse. It will usually let me know when I can resume functioning like a non-robot person and then I can carry on… oh the fun of scoliosis!
After dinner, we winded down to watch some very weird movies and enjoy the hot tub once more along with a gaggle of teenagers. This hotel also has a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center and sauna, access to the nearby Ocean Pearl Spa, two sparkling pools, shuttle transportation within a 5-mile radius of the hotel to visit the iconic seven miles of Carlsbad beaches and beyond. The family-friendly property is also adjacent to Legoland and offers a convenient private pedestrian entrance. There is a separate kids pool with quite the jungle gym and water features attached as well. There is also a Karl Straus Brewing in the parking lot area where we had lunch but I fear the beer is probably better! It was a great home base to explore Carlsbad, California and I will share the best free fun another time or check out our Instagram for immediate gratification. Until next time, SD!
