Get all the Good Vibes at Sky Rock Sedona in Arizona
Story, photos, video by Cassie Hepler
Sky Rock Sedona got a magical makeover! With 360-degree views of Sedona’s Red Rocks including Snoopy Rock, Thunder Mountain, and Coffee Pot Rock, no other boutique hotel in the area can compare. After a full remodel in March 2024, this rad space offers those iconic Red Rocks views in every direction, 109 modern rooms and suites with comfortable beds, outdoor pool, hot tub, free shuttle, musicians on the weekends and all the energy work you ever wanted each evening – all without leaving the property. There’s even a hiking path across the street from Sky Rock Sedona if you want to get out there and ground your feet into that red sand! Now part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio, it meets all the comforts you can come to expect with perks too. The hotel also boasts Vortex Hunters, energy experts in the region who offer intuitive service and ideas when it comes to all things Sedona. They can help create curate experiences for guests centered around everything Sedona has to offer from adventure to transformation to relaxation. If you want a really good deal, book your stay during slow season before prices go up and things get crazy crowded in fall and winter!
I arrived somewhat early for checkin and anxious to ground down into those red rocks as I had been in Philadelphia for the whole month of July and that gritty city living really takes a toll on your soul. So when I walked into the lobby with a whole wall of sparkling amethyst, I knew I was in the right place. My soul is happy and vibrant whenever I am in this magical vortex space of Sedona and all felt right again. After exploring the property, I settled in for a cat nap as my spirit needed to rest energetically again. The key to Sedona is go with the flow… and if it’s not flowing it’s not going and that’s okay too! Ironically even just writing this story is making me want another nap… is Sedona calling me again already?! Maybe so… read on.
I then fell asleep very easily that night and was woke up by someone else singing in the morning. I’m not sure who is was but they also had a lovely voice and much better way to wake than my cell phone alarm! I was jazzed to do some yoga and meditation that morning which is a great way to start the day. But first I zombied into the lobby, grabbed the complimentary coffee, ate a banana and stumbled over to the area across from the lobby to the right. Upon arrival, I met guide Scott Soller who was full of funny, snarky spiritual sayings and puns. Before you know it, I made three new friends, found my zen, was a little wobbly with my airplane but it’s a good reminder to return to a consistent practice as I was buzzing afterwards. Just one of the many all-inclusive perks at Sky Rock Sedona! With my body fired and mind fired up, I was ready for breakfast.
After meeting my new friend Cynthia Clark the night before, she invited me over to her beautiful Sedona house in the red rocks and gave me a tour with Kona, her fluffy little dog companion. Palmistry is the art of reading hands and so much energy is inside her beautiful home, full of crystals, singing bowls, good vibes and outstanding views. She took ink prints of both my palms so we can talk about my destiny more next visit for sure! Learn more about her at cynthiaclark.simplero.com.
Have you heard of a pet psychic? Animal Communicator Maia Kincaid told me all about Carmella the cat without her even being by my side in Sedona. Above is just a small snippet of all the information she told me but boy oh boy, was she spot on! Since 1997, Maia Kincaid has been a pioneer in the field of telepathic animal and nature communication. She trains animals, has an Animal Communication School where she can teach others how to become Animal And Nature Communicators Worldwide. Learn more about her at animalcommunicationworld.com.
She has written many books which you can browse on her website and is very intuitive. I was skeptical about not having my cat there (and Sky Rock Sedona is both cat and dog friendly btw) but she soon was having me in tears about my old gal! Maia said she would return to me shortly after her passing in a kitten form and I would know it was her by laying on my chest. Her voice was so soft and kind, full of loving energy that we went to a private room for this conversation as I didn’t want to miss a beat. At this point, it was time to get ready for dinner as Sedona Restaurant Week returned August 24-31, 2024. Apparently it was a battle for a while among the residents and mayor but ultimately they decided to offer it again. I think that was a good move, especially during slow season to motivate Arizonians to flee up North more often. But even all through dinner after taking the shuttle down, I was anxious to get back to home base and continue exploring energy work. It certainly had a pull on me!
Ironically, these rad folks Capri Pinto and Steve Vintage lived in South Philly and had a shop named Vintage Clothing Company until 2003 when they moved to Sedona. It’s a small world indeed! What I really loved about staying at Sky Rock Sedona is these experiences which you normally have to search out and book around town, are literally right on property almost every night of the week. You can get your Woo Woo on at any time! This was a lovely experience in the Tranquility Room where most of the action happens. Learn more about this funky couple at gratefuldesertsound.com.
You gotta swing by the WooWoo bar even if you’re not staying at Sky Rock Sedona! Every Thursday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., there is live music with local Sedona artists, wicked good drinks by Chuckie and a light food menu available. Get the fresh jalapeño guacamole from Chef Jacob if you can! Sit back and relax and enjoy those epic views as the sun sets, the night cools down and the fire pits are set ablaze among the shining light of the moon. Low key but epic vibes all around!
What happened after that is quite a blur honestly! I made fast friends with all of Chuckie’s friends and we all loaded up to head down to Mooney’s Irish Pub. Whatever you do, DO NOT mix Guinness with the above cocktails unless you want the worst hangover of your life. There was a pink haired gal pal, dancing, a fluffy dog named Cheech and more shenanigans. But that hangover… eeeshhh! You cannot escape it, even in Sedona. I’m pretty sure my soul and spirit were wilin’ out because of all the good energy slinging at me in every direction. So needless to say, that morning was rough.
I then went back to the room to lay down for a bit while my head equalized itself. Soon I found myself drawn to the pool and hot tub, trying to sweat it all out and also relax before driving home with late checkout which is available to all Marriott Bonvoy members. It was around 2 p.m. when I started packing up the car and realized I did not do the short hike across the street. With the red rocks giving me life again, I decided it was worth it but also because we had a “cool” day of 90 degrees and cloud coverage. Don’t be a hero hiking out there in 100+ weather ya’ll!
Lots of love to Sedona, Arizona! It was hard to peel myself away from that vortex energy as usual and I do forsee moving there someday when I’m in my book writing era. From the wonderfully kind people I met at Sky Rock Sedona to the super comfy dead to the world bed, all was well in my world for 72 hours straight. Some might even say life changing! I look forward to returning and exploring some more, making even more new friends and soaking up those Red Rocks when the weather cools down. If you’re looking for somewhere to ground down and enjoy all the amazing energy, this is your new favorite place!
