Even a head cold couldn’t keep me away from a #DOAC weekend at The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City. With my bags and tissues packed, we headed off for a weekend of fun in the indoor casino warmth – and enjoyed every minute of it! From our fashionably late arrival to our comfy plush bed which was hard to escape – it was either a head cold nap or coffee, I opted for the hotel room coffee which was surprisingly good. A leisurely dinner at The Chart House seafood restaurant with a view, which is one of the biggest golden nuggets at #GNAC, followed by a visit to Club Haven to hear the London-laced beats of Gareth Emery somehow helped cure my cold. Of course we gambled a little bit in there too with $10 free play for signing up for their card and made a whopping $10 cash. Don’t ask me how, but after a night out eating, dancing and drinking champagne, I was giddy and – pardon the pun – golden the next day. Tired, yes. But with a great experience like that, who needs sleep? My only regret? We didn’t stay for the breakfast buffet because things went downhill as soon as we left the casino for brunch at Maria’s Luncheonette (which was a stellar diner/grease pit by the way). I parked out front by a vague 15 minute loading zone “area” (no arrows to indicate where, not like Philly), my car got towed and $146 later, we were back on the road and angry that the police ruined our golden buzz. But at least we helped the Atlantic City, N.J. economy – especially in the wintertime!
