Abandoned Buildings: Divine Lorraine and Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia
Story, photos by Cassie Hepler There’s something that I love about dilapidated buildings. In my spare time, I seek them out and try to learn new spots – and then go photograph them, or in them – or near them. There is beauty in destruction, a way of making things new and nature blooming through the debris. A rebirth of sorts… so on this particular Friday, I set out first by myself and then with my Shaman friend (who is also a fellow photographer), and explored some key places in Philly. Mind you, my overly ambitious nature had a list of 8 local spots, one in the burbs. But after…

FrankHorror.com “Diaries” and Vel Images “Suicide” films
Story, photo by Cassie Hepler Last Wednesday was the world premiere of “Diaries,” a psychological thriller by FrankHorror.com starring Emily Bennett from most recently Chicago Fire and yours truly. The location at PhilaMOCA was packed – so much so we needed more chairs from storage! It was a great turnout with a little Q&A session following which resulted in lots of laughter and some beers before and after at Prohibition Taproom. No worries if you missed this showing because it looks like another may ensue at The Trocadero complete with craft beer and popcorn options! Up next on the acting scene for me is a film with me as the…

Dude, Where’s My Car? A Philadelphia Story
Story, photos by Cassie Hepler There’s a funny little loophole in the Philadelphia parking world that even after nine years of living here I just learned – and found out the hard way. Once upon a time, I went to a business lunch with the lovely Laura Price, PR Director at Quaker City Mercantile and enjoyed a leisurely lunch outside on a warm summer’s day. We wrapped up lunch, made fast friends (you just know when you meet a good person!) and went along our merry way. I rushed back to my car so I could high-tail it home and finish up a story for Thrillist – Philly’s 10 Friendliest…

Steve and his wife make an amazing creative pair who not only open up their hearts but home too. Stay tuned to my Facebook or Twitter for almost daily updates…

Flying with the Greatest of Ease at Fly School Circus Arts
Story, photos by Cassie Hepler Sometimes you have to just let go and let live… this was the lesson I learned when given an opportunity to try out Mary Kelly Rayel’s Fly School Circus Arts in Northern Liberties, Philadelphia. For only $60 (and sometimes weekday specials as well), you too can attempt to fly through the air with the greatest of ease for two hours. She preps you well first with a small, low hanging bar at the back of the net and coaches you to trust her and her team. The next thing you know, you are climbing with your heart pounding, head pumping, palms sweaty (no worries, they…
