The time has returned for the 4th Annual Brooklyn Brewery Mash Up and Philly beer lovers couldn’t be more excited. Through the end of August, The Brooklyn Brewery swept through the city of Philadelphia to celebrate its annual beer event that consisted of an entire weekend lineup of bites and booze. From South Philadelphia to the eclectic streets of Northern Liberties, beer connoisseurs were sure to get their fix of amazing exclusive and rarest crisp beers.
For those unaware, the Brooklyn Brewery’s Philly Mash is a weekend-long cultural festival exploring vibrant communities in cities around the world through food, music, art and beer. The Mash is the largest international traveling tour of its kind, stopping in six U.S. cities plus London, Stockholm and Paris in 2016.
Brooklyn Brewery’s latest iteration of the Mash took a reimagined look at four time-honored celebrations: the meal, the beer festival, the bar crawl and the concert, by curating a series of forward-thinking experiences through collaborations with Philadelphia-based tastemakers, musicians, chefs, and breweries.
The first stop of the mash up was at the amazingly delicious Bing Bing Dim Sum located at 16th and Passyunk Ave. Described as a night of #DinnerWithFriends, the first night kicked off with bang. Featuring a full dinner provided by Philly native Chef Ben Puchowitz, from appetizers to the main courses this one night only menu definitely rocked the house. From mouth watering bites like crispy lamb and eggplant rolls to sichuan pepper pork dumplings, these delectables paired with top notch beers like Defender IPA definitely bought your tastebuds to life.
The kick-off night was for the books as guests enjoyed a belly full of fingerpicking cuisines and fresh beer. The Mash Up goal was accomplished as guests enjoyed learning and pairing beers together for a tasting to remember and enjoy. If you were not a connoisseur the first night, I truly believe by the end of the night you were well on your way. From sweet, crisp, dry and dessert there was a beer for every tastebud in the room.
We can’t wait for next year’s mash up.
