Redz Restaurant Inside DoubleTree Suites in Mount Laurel, N.J. Sizzles for Brunch

Story, photos by Cassie Hepler

Redz Restaurant connected to the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton is known for their American inspired fare in Mount Laurel, N.J. But what most people don’t know is they work with local New Jersey farm stands to add farm-fresh lunch and dinner options with seasonal flair.

Seasonal and recently added lunch and dinner menu items feature Jersey fresh produce and locally sourced ingredients. On the lunch menu, patrons can find healthy options like the Spinach Salad with Seasonal Fruit’ for $12 and an “Of the Day” section highlighting the kitchen’s choice of Soup du Jour for $8 ranging from Jersey tomato-sweet gazpacho or heart healthy asparagus puree to Quesadilla of the Day for $13 and Omelet of the Day for $13 – utilizing both as a blank canvas waiting to be adorned with Jersey corn, zucchini or fresh herbs. Asparagus Tempura for $7 with ponzu dipping sauce joins the dinner menu to start along with entrees including Lemon Chicken for $24 sautéed in white wine and a popular, delicious favorite Chicken Parmesan for $24 baked under fresh mozzarella.

Redz was started three years ago by owner Mitchell Davis. He chose the name Redz in honor of all the red-haired women who have had such an influence in his life. Redz only uses the freshest and closest-to-the-source ingredients. The restaurant offers an extensive beverage program that includes domestic and craft beer, domestic wines and a selection of specialty cocktails. We went for a late brunch with a gal pal and this writer’s mom and had a lovely ladies luncheon.

Walking inside, Redz is part of the hotel lobby with connecting open bar.
Always a fan of olive oil and fresh bread, this flavorful herb mixture did not disappoint.
The signature Redz salad with buttery lettuce and lightly drizzled honey citrus dressing is a rabbit’s dream meal at Redz restaurant.
The chicken noodle soup seemed fitting for a late afternoon brunch but could have used more of that juicy, organic chicken and broth at Redz restaurant.
Grilled to perfection mahi tacos were the star of brunch with some cilantro slaw slapped on top at Redz restaurant. I added the fresh made salsa for even more flavor and held the sour cream.
Always a sucker for a good BLT, the bacon was thick and juicy and the goat cheese instead of disgusting mayo kicked it up many notches at Redz restaurant.
The cranberry and walnut bread turkey and brie sandwich with green apple was chock full of mmmms and other yummy noises with a salad replacement of the sweet potato fries that come with sandwiches at Redz restaurant.
The cranberry chicken salad sandwich on a croissant was pretty darn delicious and made up for the plain asparagus soup at Redz restaurant.
An after dinner cappuccino with biscotti and sugar stick was a nice pick me up to end the meal at Redz restaurant.

We got a sandwich to go which was the grilled chicken sandwich (not pictured) and were disappointed to find out the chicken was in slices (not a breast). It was still delicious with the brioche bun but we would have been sad to order that for lunch and not be full! But overall, a lovely space that we had to ourselves on a Sunday afternoon and also learned all about motorcycles from our friendly and attentive server. Thanks for hosting us, Redz!
