Protect Your Skin from the Sun and Look Chic in Tenth Street Hats Featuring the Cloche Hat

Story by Cassie Hepler, photos courtesy of Tenth Street Hats

Since moving to Arizona, it seems I have become the hat lady. And it’s mostly out of a way to protect my pasty white European/American mutt sensitive skin. When I first moved here, this California company Tenth Street Hats reached out to me to offer me some samples to wear and rock during my travels. Loving the boho chic, gothic, Cuban and Western vibes I found on the website, I delved deep into the hat world. So much so in fact, I am running out of walk-in closet space and may make a whole bedroom wall into a sort of artistic hat display.

Tenth Street Hats is a start-up retailer, based out of its wholesale, parent company, Dorfman Pacific. Dorfman Pacific was founded in 1921 in Oakland, CA and still remains an important part of the Northern California community almost 100 years later. By watching the decades and their cultural and sartorial changes swirl by, they’ve grown accustomed to making hats that blend a vintage feel with modern sensibilities. While their team has grown over the years, they’ve remained a family-run organization, which is part of the reason they are been able to maintain relationships with expert craftsmen and designers. In the factories, they still use rare hat-making machines that are nearly one-of-a-kind, allowing them to make Tenth Street a unique experience for all. Their mission from day one was to build a headwear business with a strong commitment to our customer. Every new style and each different type of fabric they use is part of the plan to ensure customers receive exactly what they were looking for.

Before you delve into the world of hats, it is good to know what looks good on your face shape. Just like glasses and sunglasses, some looks just don’t work. This handy dandy blog post on their website is really helpful in deciding what looks you can pull off with confidence based on your face shape. Then take a look at some of the hottest looks for fall below and find your forever hat… or hats. Welcome to your new addiction! And remember just because it’s labeled men’s or women’s means nothing in the hat world. I rock a men’s Cuban hat and get compliments from both sexes all the time! My latest choice from their site was a cloche hat. It reminded me of the 90’s Blossom era and fitting colors for fall.
