Desert Rose Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada Giving Condo Vibes

Story, photos and video by Cassie Hepler

Let’s explore the Desert Rose Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada! Located to the west of MGM Grand and walkable to the OYO Casino (formerly Hooter’s) are these boutique style condos that were formerly apartments, apparently a timeshare as well but you can book individually regardless or with your Wyndham points. After you check in, they will send you across the way to the timeshare desk to try to lure you into time-wasting deals such as a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville cruise from Florida, seeing Vegas shows, $125 gift card, 30,000 Wyndham points and a “free” 2 night vacation where you have to attend another timeshare at said location choice. If you have the time to waste, go for it however it is not 90 minutes long, it is 3 HOURS of torture time after they ship you over to their sister location via Uber and back. That said, I did replenish my points from this trip and then some. If I was in better physical condition, I would have went out on the town instead.

And this was the longest drive I’ve done since the summer of hell 2025! My room was on the second floor and I would encourage ya’ll to ask for the third floor as the first night it sounded like elephants stomping above me from 10 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. and I wanted to die and/or unalive someone. Fortunately kind human beings were above me the next couple nights, the bed was comfy, the shower was hot but the bathtub was tiny (it was giving Chris Farley’s fat man in a little tub vibes), very clean, fully stocked kitchen, security everywhere, no smoking on grounds, the pool was heated and the hot tub was nice and spicy – when it was working. They did give us a free drink one night (I opted for a cold Coke) and had free activities if you were staying all week like wine and painting, hot chocolate bar, etc. I popped over to OYO to be nosy and won $5 on $10 free play! They are replacing all the old restaurants including Hooter’s so it’s a bit like a casino desert. The MGM looked like a far away mirage so I didn’t attempt that walk but it’s a safe area if you want peace and quiet from the chaos of the Las Vegas Strip. Would I stay again for a work trip? Yes if I was on the third floor and the hot tub was working full time!

I did enjoy the full kitchen and used it frequently to make a quick girl dinner or lunch when needed as well as a fast breakfast and most importantly coffee first thing in the morning! You can walk around the neighborhood with ease and will see some far away sights as well as some new construction happening in Las Vegas. This was before they started rolling out all the stay and play casino deals by the way. And parking is free, as it should be! I think for me being East, South or West of Vegas is ideal. Being in the center of it all gives me anxiety, I have to work up the energy to be in the buzziest spots of Sin City nowadays. That said, enjoy this gem while it lasts at great rates!
