Naveda: A Fashion Brand to Keep an Eye On
Story, photos by Tori Radday
Amy Devan, fashion designer of Naveda, celebrated a fall preview of her line with an intimate gathering of fashion insiders at the Granary apartments in Philadelphia. Devan has showed her collection at New York Fashion Week as well as London Fashion Week. The small crowd buzzed with excitement, as they were able to see the designs up close and chat with Devan about them.
A relaxed, high-class atmosphere greeted guest as they walked in. Laid back, hip music such as the XX (yes, that really is their band name! They’re sort of modern chillwave music) and the Neighborhood provided background noise as the attendees mingled and browsed through the designs.
Twisted Lids and Pinot Boutique provided mouth-watering refreshments for the event. Guests sipped on wine and munched on chocolate-covered pretzels, cheese & crackers and sweet treats provided by Twisted Lids while networking at the event.
Guests donned stylish looks and it seemed like everyone wanted to capture the style of the event as flash after flash went off from everyone’s cameras and phones. In particular, Philadelphia fashion blogger, Guru Talwar of Moda Ninja, wowed in a stunning red dress paired with a pair of printed heels.
A few racks displayed Naveda’s designs as well as a couple models at the party wearing the designs. As guests browsed through the racks and held pieces up, praises of the designs could be heard throughout the gathering.
Devan described her designs as “wanderluxe” and there couldn’t be a better description for her collection. All of the pieces felt very luxurious yet they were distinctly bohemian.
Neutral, versatile colors such as tans and grays dominated the collection. There was incredible detailing of the garments such as intricate beading and embroidery; what makes the detailing of the designs even more incredible is that all of it is hand done. A sheer, crisscross beaded blouse was the talk of the night; many guests examined it, picked it up, even tried it on. The sophisticated, hand-done beading on the top was too extraordinary not to fixate upon. Additionally, all of Devan’s designs are hand-dyed.
Devan placed a large emphasis on the versatility of her designs and explained that she stresses investment pieces as playing a large role in her design process. At the event, she had styled one of the scarves from her collection as a top. As she talked to the crowd and explained her inspiration and thoughts behind her designs, it was easy to tell why the fashion industry holds Devan in such high regards. In addition to being such a brilliantly talented designer, she’s absolutely charming.
The successful gathering at the Granary last night serves to signal that Naveda is definitely a brand to keep your eye on.
