Navigate Towards the Moshulu Ship to Discover Martin Miller’s Gin

Photos, story by Dana Prophet

Make some room, high-shelf gin. There is new and major contender in town. Martin Miller’s Gin is here to change your preconception of how gin should taste. Held at Moshulu at Penn’s Landing, the Martin Miller’s Gin Launch made believers out of the doubters and gin fans like myself discover this amazing elixir made into enticing cocktails.

Like most amazing things in life, Martin Miller’s Gin was created out of necessity. The gin’s namesake and inventor, Martin Miller weary of lackadaisical gins wanted to show the world how it was done.

Martin and his two friends gave themselves a challenge to produce the finest gin in the world no matter the challenges, pitfalls, or obstacles. That goal created a gin that was distilled to perfection and tasted great straight right out of the bottle.

How he indeed showed the world! Since 2003, Martin Miller’s Gin has won consistent international recognition of its superiority. Apparently they are on the right track because their gins (the original 80 proof and Westbourne) are the world’s most awarded gins in the past 10 years!

After a brief explanation of Martin Miller’s background and element components, we were invited to taste the gin straight. You can taste the subtle, but brilliant flavors of nutmeg, licorice bark, of course juniper, and other spices.

Found in high-end spirit stores in the Delaware Valley, you don’t have to travel across the pond for perfection. No matter if you want to drink it straight or in any one of Martin Miller’s Gin Cocktail recipes, you are ready for the summer months with a delectable beverage with a rich history.
