Enjoy a Girls Getaway to The Cassara Carlsbad in San Diego, California

Views from the The Cassara Carlsbad property include flowers and ocean.

Photos, story by Cassie Hepler

There’s some sort of siren song that keeps lulling me back to San Diego, California. Over 13 years ago, I came to visit the Los Angeles area determined I was going to move there from Philadelphia. I stayed for a month at over three different friend’s locations but the plastic thirstiness and fakeness of Hollywood was not my vibe. I’m way too straight forward and honest for that shit. Also, people thought I was very angry because I swore so much but that’s just how it is in Philly! It’s just adjectives such as very cool is fucking cool… and so on. Anyway, fast forward to me falling in love with San Diego a few years later and it’s still a very strong love affair. I find myself relaxed, my hair full of sea salt curls and my skin so supple and moisturized from that fresh ocean air. So when Spring finally sprung again, it was reunion time!

My best friend since college at Penn State University, who is also a writer and author, was able to join me for a chill Sunday fun day and overnight which made it even more special – just the two of us able to spend some quality time together which hasn’t happened in forever! I arrived on a Saturday early evening with my shoulders mad at me for the drive from North Phoenix. I made great time, only 5 and a half hours but my body was not enjoying the ride. So as soon as I checked in at The Cassara Carlbad, I did what I call a “lie down” where I relax my back so it doesn’t get worse. It will usually let me know when I can resume functioning like a non-robot person and then I can carry on… oh the fun of scoliosis!

The entrance kind of sneaks up on your at The Cassara Carlsbad which is also attached to a timeshare but a separate entity, part of the Hilton Tapestry Collection.
The lobby included an open eating space and cocktail bar with the classics at The Cassara Carlsbad.
There was also a lounge space behind checkin at The Cassara Carlsbad.
A sight for sore eyes… and backs in my room at The Cassara Carlsbad.
The bathroom matched the lobby tiles however in wallpaper form at The Cassara Carlsbad.
I also enjoyed the art and the large bathtub at The Cassara Carlsbad.
Our room had a balcony which smelled like fresh flowers of the American flag at The Cassara Carlsbad from The Flower Fields.
Right outside our balcony at The Cassara Carlsbad.
A slightly better view of the American flag field at The Cassara Carlsbad.
Sweet snacks and the Carlsbad mineral water were a hit later that weekend at The Cassara Carlsbad.
On the third floor, a sitting space that would make a great photoshoot place with all that natural light at The Cassara Carlsbad.
For dinner, I just wanted a huge slab of meat and this 1/2 pound burger delivered at The Cassara Carlsbad. With so many events happening in Spring and feeling a little booze bloated, I opted for a Coke instead of cocktail which was the theme of my weekend.
Out by the pool, plenty of places to sit and lounge at The Cassara Carlsbad.
The pool was a nice salt water style to do laps in the morning at The Cassara Carlsbad.
The hot tub felt great and we used it a few times, there’s one jet that will blow you away at The Cassara Carlsbad.
I had to take a walkabout before we officially visited The Flower Fields the next day at The Cassara Carlsbad.
The grounds were all very pretty and well maintained at The Cassara Carlsbad.
The next morning, I enjoyed an egg scramble for breakfast at The Cassara Carlsbad.
Soon we were escorted off to see the flowers at The Cassara Carlsbad with the shuttle that goes within a 5 mile radius.
Just a teaser of the flowers we saw, a whole post is coming soon!
When we returned, we were hungry and while we waited, enjoyed live music at The Cassara Carlsbad.
For dinner that night, we tried the other sandwiches on the menu including BLAT and chicken sammy with cookies and cheesecake at The Cassara Carlsbad.

After dinner, we winded down to watch some very weird movies and enjoy the hot tub once more along with a gaggle of teenagers. This hotel also has a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center and sauna, access to the nearby Ocean Pearl Spa, two sparkling pools, shuttle transportation within a 5-mile radius of the hotel to visit the iconic seven miles of Carlsbad beaches and beyond. The family-friendly property is also adjacent to Legoland and offers a convenient private pedestrian entrance. There is a separate kids pool with quite the jungle gym and water features attached as well. There is also a Karl Straus Brewing in the parking lot area where we had lunch but I fear the beer is probably better! It was a great home base to explore Carlsbad, California and I will share the best free fun another time or check out our Instagram for immediate gratification. Until next time, SD!
