Story by Kelly Kusumoto, Photography by Colleen Cahill The National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway, but the Philadelphia Flyers are on the outside looking in. They just concluded their 50th season since entering the NHL and Explore-Philly was there to experience the last game of the season. The fans were decked out in orange and black. Flyers jerseys were everywhere. There was a definite sense of bittersweet pride for the home team knowing going into the game it would be their last and that the pure awesomeness of playoff hockey would have to wait until next year. That bittersweet feeling lasted pretty much the entire first period. The flyers played…

Chug, Run, Repeat with BrewMile at XFINITY Live
Story, photos by Jordan Price It was a sweaty August evening when hundreds of thirsty runners gathered at XFINITY Live in Philadelphia for a brush with BrewMile, supporting Water.org (beer is made from some water after all). This was BrewMile’s first visit to Philadelphia, and hopefully not the last, as this particular challenge takes Philadelphia’s passion for competition, physical activity and, of course, beer to the next level. The concept is simple: drink a beer, run a quarter of a mile. Repeat three times. Celebrate accordingly with (what else?!) more beer! Costumes are encouraged, as are teams, and Philly runners really brought their A-game. There were several heats, broken down into…

by Cassie Hepler, Photos by Lou Perri Don’t phuck with Philly soccer phans. Sons of Ben: The Movie premiere, held at The Trocadero Theatre, depicts the journey of Philadelphia’s most righteous soccer fans, the Sons of Ben, who stopped at nothing in their goal to help bring a Major League Soccer franchise to the City of Philadelphia area in Chester, Pa. This is the true story of an American dream… if you built it, they will come. And they did. The place was hopping, the energy was jolly and these SOBs were a vivacious vocal bunch. With some serious and poignant points interwoven with hilarious, Catch-22 moments (which had the crowd rolling), it’s a…
