On Oscar night, Sunday, February 28th, The Philadelphia Film Society hosted an Awards Night Party and Screening at the Prince Theatre. The glamorous event was lavish in golden Oscar inspired décor, and the guests arrived dressed to the nines. The black tie optional event featured a red carpet, mobile photographers (amateurs like myself included) and a professional photo station. In attendance were a variety of Philadelphia’s best, and definitely some of its best dressed too. From classic 30’s Hollywood-inspired looks to more modern day red carpet looks, the event was dotted with well-dressed guests and I was blown away by their looks for the evening.
Upon entering the event, guests were greeted with their own mini bottle of champagne. We were encouraged to walk the “red carpet”, snack on the deliciously catered food, enjoy the open bar and try out the especially popular malted chocolate cheesecake-flavored Shake Shack ice cream. There was even a dress up station with props related to some of nominated movies, like a spacesuit head inspired by The Martian, and a bear suit inspired by The Revenant.
Eventually the mingling and red carpet socialization came to an end and the award show commenced. All in all, the event was a smashing success; the theatre had ample and comfortable seating, Leo finally won his award, and guests left in high spirits from a night best described as dreamy. It was definitely a night to remember.
